| Director's Message

Welcome back!

It is so wonderful to see all our Kozaks, new and old, back at school. Thank you for the joy and warmth you have brought to our campus these last few days. We are hoping for peaceful days here on campus where our students will learn, grow, have fun and make friends. We have an important policy change regarding technology use on campus. Please read it carefully.

Communication

Elementary Parents will receive communication on Seesaw. There will be a weekly newsletter from the teacher. Parents of Middle School and Secondary students will receive notifications from Teams regarding assignments.

Information regarding school activities and events will be shared in the newsletter and by email Informer. If you need help, please contact our reception! We are always available for your questions.

  • πŸ‘‰πŸ» Secondary: September 4th, 3 PM, Auditorium
  • πŸ‘‰πŸ» Middle: September 5th, 3 PM, Auditorium

Dress Policy for Middle School and Secondary Students

KIS doesn’t have a uniform, however we do want our students to dress appropriately for school! The dress policy has been explained. Please help your child make appropriate choices and meet these standards:

Dress Code Guidelines:

  • No drug or alcohol-related images may be worn.
  • Foul or vulgar language on clothing may not be worn.
  • Wear shoes. Shoes should be appropriate for the school environment.
  • No see-through tops or bottoms.
  • No visible underwear/undergarments.
  • Sleeves must cover shoulders
  • No midriff-baring shirts or low-cut tops. Shirts should properly cover the trunk of the body.
  • No short skirts or shorts – when you sit down, we should not see your entire leg.

If a student’s attire is deemed inappropriate for a school setting, the student will be required to go home and change clothing, cover with a jacket, or change at school if clothes are available. Persistent violations of the dress code will result in additional disciplinary action and “N”s for relevant success orientations.β€―β€―

Supervision After School

We are happy for our elementary families to use the playground after school. However, students must be supervised by a parent or caregiver. That person must be ON CAMPUS, with the child in their direct line of vision. Parents must actively enforce school playground policies.

Middle School and Secondary students may stay on campus if they are enrolled in sports and activities. More information about these will come next week!

You can always contact us by calling +38 044 452 2792.

Best regards,
Rachel Geary

| Meet Your School Counselor

Hello Kozaks,

My name is Ms. Zoromski and I am the school counselor. I am excited to be working at KIS for my 6th year and be located in Kyiv this year. I work with all the students in the school and sometimes meet with students individually, in small groups, or as a whole class. As the school counselor, I help with university planning, scheduling, and any social emotional concerns that may arise.

Please email me any time at chelsey-zoromski@kyiv.qsi.org if you have questions and if you would like to schedule a meeting with me, please click here.

To schedule a meeting with Ms. Zoromski, our school counselor, please click here.  Her email is: chelsey-zoromski@kyiv.qsi.org.  As a reminder, she works with all students in our school to support them academically and emotionally.

| Languages Other Than English

LOE classes

At KIS, 4 Languages Other than English (LOE): French, German, Spanish and Ukrainian are offered to students from 7 y.o. to Secondary 4. If you are not taking Intensive English (IE) and don’t have LOE class in your schedule yet, please, complete the form: https://forms.office.com/e/XQpWziHKwj

It should be done as soon as possible, and on Tuesday you will know where to go at LOE time (Period 4 - Elementary 7/8, Period 5 - Secondary I and II, Period 6 - Secondary III and IV, Period 7 - Elementary 9/10 and Period 8 - Middle School). Don’t hesitate to contact the LOE Coordinator (sergey-berezhny@kyiv.qsi.org) if you have any questions or concerns.

This year, there are more options:

1. Spanish is back! We will start with the Introductory level and two classes: Period 5 for High Schoolers (mostly, Secondary I and II) and Period 8 for 11-13 y.o. students.

The second group (MS) has been already set, but you can still join the first one, if you are in High School. No worries, soon – fingers crossed, next year, there will be not any restrictions.

2. Previously, 7 y.o. students could learn only Ukrainian in LOE, now you may choose French or German as well.

We recommend everybody to continue learning the same language, discovering its treasures and going more in depth. However, changes are possible during the first week of school, by August 30.

Merci! Danke! Gracias! Дякуємо!

Sincerely,

Sergey Berezhniy

| PTO Spotlight

Dear parents, legal guardians and other KIS students’ official representatives, we are happy to see all of you back to school and want to greet all new community members, who joined us this year!

We are PTO a.k.a Parents - Teachers Organization, non-profit organization in KIS, where parents, teachers and administration members unite to make students’ lives  brighter.

We run the PTO shop, where we are doing our best to accumulate money, which is later spent on organizing some school events, presents and small surprises for our kids, teachers and administrative stuff.

So you are very welcome to spent some time and several hryvnas in the Lobby Shop and can be sure that all these money will go directly towards our kids’ needs.

We welcome you all to join us and become a member of an incredible friendly community and actively participate in KIS school life. Be there with us and become an active part of your child’s school life. It is an amazing opportunity, because you will be able to see your kids the way their friends and teachers see them, as a part of society, not just as a family members.
