| Director's Message

Dear Families,

It has been a difficult week for many, with electrical outages, missile and drone attacks and frequent sirens. I am proud of our school community for coming to school with a positive attitude and commitment to learning. We understand, in these circumstances, students may be late to school or tired when they get here. Our expectation is that families do what is best for their children, however we believe that giving children structure and a sense of routine are important for emotional well-being and academic growth.

We love that families enjoy our playgrounds after school. Please remember you are responsible for supervising your children! Please note that the lobby is a meeting place, not a playground – your children should not be playing there.

Please save the date for our PTO Picnic: September 21st from 1-4! Look for information from the PTO!

All students have been assessed regarding their readiness for the math class they are enrolled in.  If students have demonstrated that they have already mastered the concepts and skills for this class, they have the opportunity to move forward in mathematics.  If your child demonstrated this mastery, you will receive an email outlining your child's options.

| Parent Meetings

Dear Parents,

You are invited to join us for Parent Coffee Chat Meetings with our School Director, Rachel Geary. This informal gathering will provide an opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and talk about different aspects of our school community.

Dear KIS Community,

We are excited to invite you to our annual Back to School Picnic! Let’s kick off the new school year with a fun and festive gathering.

📅 Date: Saturday, September 21st
🕐 Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Location: School’s picnic area

What to Expect:

  • Potluck: Bring a dish to share with the community! Whether it’s a favorite family recipe or a takeout, your contribution will make our picnic delicious and diverse.
  • Activities: Enjoy games, music, and other activities for all ages.
  • Volunteers & Activities: Parents, teachers, students, if you’re interested in running an activity or volunteering, we’d love your help! Please fill out the RSVP form to let us know how you’d like to contribute.

Our upcoming Back to School Picnic will feature a special opportunity for parents to showcase their businesses and connect with the school community!

If you own or represent a business and would like to set up a booth at the picnic, we'd love to have you as a vendor. This is a fantastic chance to introduce your products or services to fellow parents, students, and staff in a friendly, community-focused environment.

If you're interested in participating as a vendor or representing your business, please let us know by September 9th. You can reach out directly to PTO at pto@kyiv.qsi.org to discuss details and secure your spot.

Parent-Teacher Organization

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), a non-profit group, brings together parents, teachers, and administrators to enhance the school experience for our students. PTO Lobby Shop raises funds to support school events, gifts, and surprises for students, teachers, and staff. Any KIS parent is welcome to join.

What is KIS Moms & Dads? 

KIS Moms & Dads is a private Facebook group for KIS parents and the PTO. It's a place to discover ways to get involved in school activities, PTO events, and volunteer opportunities, as well as to share ideas, feedback, and suggestions with the school and PTO. To join, please complete the membership questions.

DRAMA, ART AND 5 YEAR OLDS 

This past week the 5 year Old class, the Drama I class and the IB Visual Art class all had something very important in common. I noticed it, I observed it and I am genuinely grateful for it. They had time to play. They were all given the gift of time.
