Kozak Korner #04. September 05th, 2025

| Director's Message

Dear Parents,

Week 3 already! It's been our first full week of school and things are settling well. Thanks so much for your ongoing support and in particular your patience as we endeavour to resolve our current staff shortages.

We have interviewed a couple of Middle School/High School Science teachers this week but neither were entirely suitable so we have decided not to proceed with them. Much as we would all like to find a solution, I'm sure you will agree that finding experienced and knowledgeable teachers who will contribute to the education of our students and to the KIS community is of paramount importance.

The Admin team have been working with the Parent Teacher Organisation and decided on our first few PTO organised events.

The first one will be the Back to School picnic on 27th September - more details to follow - Save the date!

Student Council (StuCo) are organising their first event which will be on 19th September.

On 17th October PTO together with KIS Admin will organise a new event - a whole school 'Marathon'.

Please note that as we are all challenged by travel logistics at school breaks we will continue to provide extraordinary 'travel days' as follows:

Friday 17th October - Fall break...school will be in session for a half day. No lunch will be provided that day and students will be dismissed at the end of period 4.

Thursday 11th December - Winter break...school will be in session for a half day. No lunch will be provided that day and students will be dismissed at the end of period 4.

Friday 12th December - no school for students and staff.

Further dates for exciting events such as Winter Concerts and Drama Productions will be shared next week.

Looking forward to After School Activities which recommence next week on Tuesday 9th September.

If you would like to contact the school reception, please use this e-mail address:

Thanks very much.

Have a safe and restful weekend.

Kind regards,

Susan Tilney

| Reminder - Term 1 School Fees and Educational Agreements

Dear Parents,

This is a kind reminder that the due date for the Term 1 fee was August 22nd.

As of September 5, we have reached the 11th school day of the term. According to the updated school fee policy, which is outlined in the Educational Agreement, once a student has attended more than 10 school days in a trimester, the full trimester fee becomes payable.

This means that if a student withdraws from school on September 5 or any date after, the full Term 1 fee must be paid.

If you have not yet made the payment, we kindly ask you to do so immediately. Otherwise, please expect to receive a notice from the School Director regarding the late payment.

In addition, please ensure that your Educational Agreement has been signed and submitted to the school, as this is a required document for all enrolled students.

Should you have any questions regarding payment or the submission of agreements, please do not hesitate to contact the Business Office for assistance: businessoffice@kyiv.qsi.org

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Best regards,
Business Office

| Save the Date - "WillPower" Drama Show

Save The Date for  "Willpower
A Shakespeare Experience that is Exciting, Eternal and For Everyone!

Auditions and casting are now underway for Will Power, our middle and high school "after-school drama production."

This year it is not just one play, but an intense re-telling of Shakespeare’s most powerful moments—scenes selected for their power, beauty, and truth.

Themes that have echoed for centuries—loyalty, greed, mercy, revenge, love, hope—and still speak to us today.

KIS students will bring these moments to life for our entire Kozak (and extended Kozak) Community on Thursday December 04th and Friday December 05th

What makes this production extraordinary is its collective spirit. Students as young as eleven will share the stage with our oldest secondary actors, each lending their own voice and energy to the bard's words.

This is a group 40+ committed Kozaktors side by side, discovering that; Stories, Shakespeare and these eternal truths belong to all of us.

A Bardic journey fit for a "KOBZAR'S" retelling, where song and story light the path of memory and fire the heart for what lies ahead.

The first spark has already been lit.

Take a look, mark your calendars, and plan to be there.

When the curtain rises on Will Power, you’ll see not only Shakespeare’s words—but also the strength, resliance and imagination of our own KOZAKTORS alive and onstage for all to see.

Let the PLAY begin!
