| Director's Message

Dear Community,

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at our school picnic which has been organized by our wonderful PTO. It is a nice opportunity to meet other families and chat with teachers in an informal setting.

Our Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 12th from 1 pm – 6:30 PM. Due to the space restrictions in the basement (in case of an air-raid alert) we ask that Middle School and Secondary Parents attend virtually on Zoom/Teams. If you would like to meet a teacher in person, please reach out to that teacher and arrange a time at a mutually convenient time. Elementary meetings may be in person or by Zoom, at parents' convenience. Students may not be on campus during conferences as there is no supervision. Sign-ups will open on October 1st.

Air-Raid Alerts

Our school will always be ready to receive children in the morning, even in the case of an air-raid alert. Your family should do what makes you most comfortable – come to school or shelter in place. Students will be welcomed whenever they arrive – they will not be marked tardy. The protocol is that students arrive and go directly to the shelter.

MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing begins the week of September 25th. This test allows us to measure a student's progress over the course of the school year and to identify student strengths and weaknesses in different academic areas. Elementary students will take this assessment using iPads provided by the school and MS and Secondary students will use their own devices.

Thank you to the parents who attended the Preschool and Elementary Coffee Chat. It was great to hear positive feedback and your concerns.

We look forward to the Middle School and Secondary Coffee Chat on Thursday, September 28th at 3 PM.

Please always feel free to reach out to me by email to ask a question or set up a meeting!

Sincerely,
Rachel Geary

| MAP Testing

Dear Parents,

The MAP Testing week is just around the corner. You might wonder what is MAP testing and how do we interpret the results. Let us give you some clues:

MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring achievement and growth. Teachers use results to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.

MAP Growth tests are unique, and it adapts to your child’s responses to measure your child’s skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results will provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.

MAP Growth reports also provide typical growth data for students who are in the same grade, subject and have the same starting performance level. Following each testing period, you will receive a Family Report showing a summary of how your child is performing academically on your Parent Moodle. This report is downloadable, like the status reports.

We are truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/familytoolkit
