| Director's Message

Dear parents,

As we move into October I would like to thank you for continually doing your very best to ensure that your children get to school as close as possible to the start of period 1 at 8:30am. Mornings like Thursday can be especially challenging with an air raid warning in place, rain, heavy traffic and school buses that were unable to continue their journey to school until the air raid all clear was issued. As a reminder, once it is safe to do so, students should aim to be at school within an hour of air raid all clear notices. After that, please note that students attendance will be marked as tardy.

Next week we look forward to Parent Teacher Conferences on Friday, details will be provided about how to sign up for times to meet teachers on that day.

Quintile 1 Status Reports will be issued soon, these will detail grades for units and subjects studied by your child as well as Success Orientation indicators for Quintile 1.

This school year all students from Pre-School to Secondary 4 will have opportunities to engage more with Success Orientations, with a focus on one orientation a month: September was Independent Endeavour month and October is  all about Concern for Others. Success Orientation assemblies are taking place to highlight some of the ways we can all orient towards the month's area of focus.

| Parent-Teacher Conferences

 

Dear Parents,

Friday, October 10th is our Parent-Teacher Conference day. 

Online signups currently open.

In order to book appointment, please logon to the Moodle with your parent login at https://study.kis.net.ua,

  • Click on “Family profile” link,
  • Click on “PTC signups” button in left vertical menu,
  • Click on “Registration” button,
  • Click on teacher picture, choose desired time slot and click on “Book” button next to it,
  • Select student and provide optional comment in the registration form and click on “Save”,
  • Repeat steps for rest of the teachers you would like to meet.

Important! If you require the help of the translator, please make sure you put the checkmark:

 

Please note that on Thursday Oct 09th, at 1 PM registration will be closed.

Get ready to move, groove, and spread kindness! Watch, learn, and practice the dance, then join students and teachers in celebrating the Day of Kindness during the week of November 10. Let’s make kindness go viral—one step at a time!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • Choose your favourite 1-5 photos from your walk on October 05th
  • Edit them however you like
  • Label them your name and last initial and the number of the photo
  • ie; leanneh 1.jpg
  • Make sure your photo is in jpg form
  • Place edited labelled photos in the folder linked Photo Walk - Info and Submissions Folder.

IMPORTANT:

RENAME YOUR PHOTOS BEFORE UPLOADING.
DO NOT EXIT ANY TABS BEFORE YOU ARE COMPLETELY SURE ALL OF YOUR PHOTOS HAVE UPLOADED COMPLETELY.
DEADLINE for all submissions is Friday October 11th.

After Fall Break there will be an Online Gallery (of some sort) shared with the KIS
Community and greater public.

| PTO Fundraiser Marathon

On October 17th, from 9:00-am-11:00am, KIS together with PTO will host a school-wide Fundraising Marathon. This is a sponsored run in which students will pre-arrange sponsorships in order to raise money for KIS Activities & Athletics and the brave defenders who are part of the KIS community.

Schedule:
9:00-9:30 - Preschool 
9:45-10:15 - Elementary 
10:30-11:00 - Middle School and High School

This event aims to:

  • Highlight the Success Orientations of group interaction and concern for others
  • Get students, of all ages, and families collaborating and working together for a cause
  • Raise funds for KIS Athletics and brave defenders of KIS all while being active and having fun!

Note: The Fundraising Marathon will take place on the KIS campus. The preschool students will take one lap around our track.  

The elementary, middle, and high school students will run the full "loop" as many times as they would like in 30 minutes. 

We hope that adults can help by sponsoring a KIS student during the Fundraising Marathon. Please consider sponsoring a KIS student with either a monetary pledge for each lap they complete (example: 50 uah/lap) OR a flat donation (regardless of how many laps the individual completes).

Parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, previous KIS families, aunts and uncles ... anyone can be a sponsor! The more sponsors the student has, the more money he/she raises.

Parent-Teacher Organization

The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), a non-profit group, brings together parents, teachers, and administrators to enhance the school experience for our students. PTO Lobby Shop raises funds to support school events, gifts, and surprises for students, teachers, and staff. Any KIS parent is welcome to join.

What is KIS Moms & Dads? 

KIS Moms & Dads is a private Facebook group for KIS parents and the PTO. It's a place to discover ways to get involved in school activities, PTO events, and volunteer opportunities, as well as to share ideas, feedback, and suggestions with the school and PTO. To join, please complete the membership questions.

| Week Highlights

 

Sun, Style, and Community Spirit at the KIS Back-to-School Picnic

Last Saturday, the KIS campus was transformed into the finest outdoor gathering spot in town, as families came together for our annual Back-to-School Picnic. Under flawless blue skies, the community enjoyed an afternoon that was equal parts vibrant, joyful, and heartwarming.

The day unfolded like a perfectly curated experience — from the irresistible BBQ by Sunny Side to the colorful array of homemade and restaurant dishes brought by families. Children, parents, and teachers alike immersed themselves in games, conversations, and the sheer delight of being together, and a live drum show was a great culmination of the event.

None of this magic would have been possible without our incredible PTO, who sponsored the fun and masterfully coordinated the day, and the dedicated volunteers (parents, staff and students) whose energy and smiles made everything seamless.

The celebration that wasn’t just about food or fun — but about connection, community, and the unmistakable feeling that we’re starting this school year stronger, closer, and brighter.

How to Contact Your Child During the School Day:

If you need to talk to your child during the school day, please contact reception and a message will be delivered to them. Please do not call or text your child directly during the school day.

Contacting School Staff

Staff hours are 8:10am-4:15pm Monday-Friday. If you email a teacher outside of these times you may not receive a response until the following day. We endeavour to respond within 24 hours.
