Kozak Korner #11. October 31st, 2025

| Director's Message

Dear parents,

I hope everyone has enjoyed Spirit Week and is looking forward to today's Fall Festival.

I am writing this week's message from the ongoing Directors' Conference where we have been discussing a range of topics that are applicable across QSI schools this year as well as looking to the future.

I know that the Cross-Country team are having a wonderful time and we are all so proud of the students and teachers for enabling this to happen after so many years away from CEESA event participation.

The momentum continues next weekend when Middle School Girls will represent KIS.

I look forward to seeing you all again next week as well all the great photos.

Kindest regards and stay safe,

Susan Tilney

Exciting news — our first team has already headed abroad for the CEESA Competition! And more are in the process of preparation.🏅

| KIS Drama Premiere: WILLPower

SAVE THE DATE

“What’s past is prologue, what endures is us.”

Kyiv International School’s Kozactors proudly present WILLpower, a bold, original performance that collides Shakespeare’s timeless words with the restless imagination of modern youth.

WILLpower explores what happens when young performers take hold of the Bard’s language and make it their own — twisting, tumbling, and time-traveling through comedy, courage, and connection.

At its heart, WILLpower is a celebration of resilience. It honors the enduring human spirit that continues to speak through Shakespeare’s plays — and through the students who bring them to life in a time and place far removed from the Elizabethan stage.

With rhythm, laughter, and raw emotion, the piece transforms the familiar into something fresh, urgent, and defiantly alive.

This production is more than a performance; it is a creative experiment in courage and collaboration. The students have created scenes inspired by Shakespeare’s most powerful themes — ambition, loyalty, love, and loss — but infused them with their own voices, their own truths and our modern realities. The result is a mosaic of moments that question what it means to have will in the world today.

WILLpower stands as a tribute to imagination, teamwork, and the unstoppable energy of young artists who dare to engage deeply with the past — and, in doing so, shape what endures.

Performances at Kyiv International School:

Thursday December 04th & Friday December 05th at 6:30PM Sharp.

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.

Have Questions About "Empower"?
