Kozak Korner #15. November 28th, 2025

| Director's Message

Dear parents,

Another busy and productive week of learning at KIS.

CEESA trip students and teachers returned safely and have now settled back into school life, with lasting memories of their travels, competitions, successes and challenges. Well done to you all.

Next week is our last full week at school in 2025 before we take a well deserved Winter break. There will be performances and concerts galore from students across the school as well as by a professional concert band who will give a free concert at KIS for Middle School students on 4th December.

A word about heating at school. We have uncovered some leaking and rusty water pipes which need to be urgently repaired.

This work is receiving our full attention and as soon as all repairs have been successfully undertaken we will be able to reactivate the heating. Fortunately, it is unseasonably mild at the moment so this is not too much of a problem - however please make sure your children wrap up warmly.

Stay safe and have a lovely weekend,

Kind regards,

Susan Tilney

| PTO & Community Engagement

Dear KIS Community,

The PTO is excited to invite you to take part in our upcoming Bake Sale on December 10th - a sweet KIS tradition that raises funds for a great cause.

We warmly welcome your contributions of homemade or store-bought sweets, pies or pastries. Each treat, whether simple or elaborate, becomes part of something bigger: a shared effort to support our school, our students, and the events that make KIS such a vibrant place to learn and grow.

Your contribution help transform a table of desserts into a celebration of community spirit.

And every hryvnia raised will go directly toward enriching student life and supporting beloved KIS events throughout the year.

To help us plan the Bake Sale, please let us know if you'll bring something to contribute:

This form is not currently accepting submissions.

Thank you for your generosity and continued support of our school community.

Warmly,
KIS PTO

| International Night 2026

Dear KIS Community,

We are delighted to announce one of the most beloved traditions of our school year — International Night! This long-awaited celebration brings together our entire KIS community to honor the rich cultural diversity that makes our school truly special.

On Friday, February 13th, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, the KIS Gym will transform into a vibrant tapestry of cuisine, traditional attire, music, cultural displays, and our iconic Flag Parade. It is an evening where families proudly share the flavors, stories, and traditions of their home countries — and where we celebrate what unites us as one global community.

We warmly invite all families to participate and represent their country. Whether through food, dress, a cultural display, or simply joining the Flag Parade, your involvement helps make this night unforgettable.

If you would like to take part, please complete THE PARTICIPATION FORM and let us know which country you will represent. Form submissions are requested by January 16th.

If you have any questions or proposals, please reach out to Ms. Olga Kardash at olga-kardash@kyiv.qsi.org.

Thank you for helping us celebrate the beauty, diversity, and unity of our KIS family.  We look forward to creating another memorable International Night together!

Warm regards,
International Night Committee

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.

Have Questions About "Empower"?

Feel free to reach out to our Empower Program Coordinator, Mrs. Alla Titova at alla-titova@kyiv.qsi.org
