Family Potluck On Campus
Dear Kozaks,
The gatherings for those who are in Kyiv are always a great opportunity to meet in person and get a real sense of being a part of the school community. We would like to thank everyone who joined the Bowling last Saturday! It was exciting to watch KIS families playing and having fun together! This inspired us to plan another event in the nearest future and trust us, it will be even more special than the previous ones! Why so? Because it will take place ON SCHOOL CAMPUS!!

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL
DI's Message
Dear Elementary and Middle School Families,
Passion Project Showcase: We end every school day with time for Passion Projects - a time where each child is given the freedom to explore something they are interested in. This student-centered time is one way to help students take ownership of their learning. Students define and complete their Passion Project with the help of a mentor teacher.
Starting this week, each newsletter will showcase a selection of Passion Projects from across the elementary and middle school. Maybe you’ll even be inspired to start your own Passion Project!
Sincerely,
Carla Grossman

I hope our Secondary community has enjoyed a few days away from Zoom and Teams. The last few days have been a nice break from our routine. Congratulations to those students who got caught up, and to those who were caught up and got to enjoy a few days off.
We are going into the last three weeks before our winter holidays. I encourage everyone to focus and concentrate on getting everything done so you can truly unplug and relax during the winter break.

This past week our 8 y.o. IE class has been busy studying regular and irregular past tense forms of verbs. Everyone was creative making their own sentences with the verbs in the past tense. Also, as the Thanksgiving holiday is drawing near, we worked hard on writing A Thank You Letter to our family and friends, applying the five steps of the writing process.
Wellness Course
Teacher: Olga Shliakhovska
This month students have been using basic fitness principles to explore specific benefits of physical activity. They learned appropriate fitness techniques to exercise safely and reduce the risk of injury. The goal of the unit was to create a personal two-weeks fitness plan with basic fitness principles of overload, progression, and specificity. Each of them has come out with a unique plan based on their self-assessments, individual goals, that help identify strengths and areas that need improvement.
