| Director's Message

Dear Parents,

On a personal note, I offer my sincere thanks for the lovely and supportive messages that I've received since I informed the community of my upcoming medical leave. This will be my last Director's message for a few weeks, Ms. Zoromski will take over until I am well enough recovered to resume. Thank you Chelsey.

We will welcome 3 new students on Monday. They will join our 4 year old, 8 year old and 11 year old classes.

As you will have seen in the message sent on Thursday, we have unfortunately needed to postpone International Night. With temperatures forecast to be below -20℃ and the continuing uncertainty about power, heating and water supplies we decided that it is altogether better to postpone for now and to hold this wonderful event later in the year.

At the time of writing my message, we have not had an update from the Ministry of Education regarding the resumption of in-person classes from 2nd February. We have therefore decided that KIS will return to full in-person education from Monday. On-line learning will not be offered anymore and all students should attend school.

As always, we will need to be adaptable and if anything has to change we will let you know just as soon as possible.

Teachers will keep you well informed and will of course be available to help with queries and any concerns.

Stay safe and warm,

Very kindest regards,

Susan Tilney

Calling KIS Reception During Air Raid Alerts

Dear Parents,

When an air raid siren sounds in the city, all KIS staff — including our receptionist — are required to move to the shelter in accordance with safety procedures. During this time, the reception desk is unattended, and incoming calls to the main line cannot be answered.

If you need to contact the school during an air raid alert, please use the following mobile phone number:
+38-067-477-2918 - Reception

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us prioritize everyone’s safety.

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
