Kozak Korner #21. February 02nd, 2024

| Director's Message

Dear Families,

One of the unique components of the QSI education system is our Success Orientations. We know that personal habits and values can lead to success: the ability to interact successfully with others, reliability, responsibility, hard work, punctuality, keeping one's word, kindness and other factors in this area are at least as important as the knowledge and skills one learns at school. Success orientations are actively promoted and taught in virtually all areas of the QSI curriculum with the aim of making them an integral part of one's life pattern.

At KIS we know that to be productive members of our community our students need to understand and embrace these qualities:

  • Kindness and Politeness
  • Responsibility
  • Trustworthiness
  • Group Interaction
  • Aesthetic Appreciation
  • Independent Endeavor
  • Concern for Others

Success Orientation behaviors are evaluated independently from academic assessments. You will see these evaluations on your child’s status report, and your child may be nominated for an award for consistently demonstrating exemplary behavior in one or more of the success orientations.

When our students embody these qualities, they make our community stronger!

I am looking forward to seeing our community at International Night tomorrow, February 3rd at 6 PM in the gymnasium.

Best regards,
Rachel Geary

| "Empower" Lesson Plans

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
