Kozak Korner #22. February 09th, 2024

| Director's Message

It was wonderful to see so many of our families at the KIS International Night on February 3rd. A huge thank you to everyone who hosted a table or contributed to the event! This is a long tradition at Kyiv International School which we haven’t had the opportunity to host since 2020. We were thrilled to be able to hold this memorable evening again.

I would like to encourage all families to emphasize the importance of speaking English while on campus. There are many benefits to this:

  • Students will learn more English!
  • Our community will be more welcoming and diverse
  • All members of the community will feel welcome and included.

As a staff we are currently devising a clear policy to

support a meaningful and comprehensive English policy on campus for our students.

Best regards,
Rachel Geary

| "Empower" Lesson Plans

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
