Kozak Korner #22. February 07th, 2025

| Director's Message

Dear Families,

I would like to thank all of the families who represented their countries at International Night last week. This annual tradition is a wonderful way to highlight our vibrant and diverse community.

Thursday, February 13th is the 100th day of school! This event is celebrated by many of our classes and is a milestone in our school year. We are more than halfway through the year, and this is truly a time to celebrate the progress our students have made and the successes they have achieved.

After 100 days, I am hopeful that every student understands that they need to bring a water bottle to school! We do not provide students with paper cups on a daily basis! Thank you for understanding.

Just one week until the February break!

Have a restful and peaceful weekend.

You can always contact us by calling +38 044 452 2792.

Best regards,
Rachel Geary

| KIS Week Without Walls

Dear KIS Community,

We are pleased to announce that this year will see the return of our annual Week Without Wall school activity.

Week Without Walls is an event where Middle School and High School students get to take a trip together with their friends and peers. This time away from the classroom encourages them to bond and teambuild in an atmosphere that is both relaxed and positive.

This year we plan to take three separate trips.

  • 11 year olds will have their own time away and arrangements for this are still in the planning stage.

The remaining students will have a chance to travel to the Carpathian mountains where they will get to spend a week of adventure, activities and perhaps even some fun.

  • The Middle School (12 & 13-year-olds) trip will take place on the week of the 19th of May.
  • The High Schoolers will travel in one large group on the week of the 9th of June.

Students will travel to the location, spend four nights there and then return to school in time for the weekend. Transportation issues are still being ironed out, but it will involve train or bus or both.

There will be an assembly next week for the students. At this assembly they will be given more details and any questions will be answered. They will then be given a permission slip that must be signed by their parents and returned with a one hundred dollar deposit in order to secure their place. There is a small chance that the number of participants will be greater than the places available. We encourage you to book your place as soon as possible. This will also greatly help with our planning for this trip. The closing date for deposits is March 3rd at 4 PM. We envisage this trip costing somewhere between $350 to $500, this will cover all transport, food, activities and accommodation.

We look forward to the resumption of this wonderful tradition.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at lee-feekins@kyiv.qsi.org.

Best regards,
Lee Feekins

| Take Away Food

Take-Away Food

We discourage our students from ordering take-away food during the school day, as most families have paid for the school lunch.  When students order take-away, it wastes the food that has already been prepared for them and also wastes your money.

However, we do not have a policy that prohibits delivery during the lunch hour (Middle School/Secondary). If you do not want your child to order out, please tell them and ensure that they do not come to school with the money to pay for that!

These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
