Kozak Korner #22. February 13th, 2026

| Interim Director's Message

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we are just one week away from February break. As a reminder, Friday, February 20th, will be a half day for students, with dismissal at 11:50 a.m. Please plan accordingly.

This week, we held elementary, middle, and high school parent meetings to share our newly organized Student Code of Conduct. I want to thank the parents and who took the time to attend and provide thoughtful feedback. Your partnership is invaluable, and I truly appreciate the engagement and support.

I took careful notes during each session and will continue working through the questions and suggestions that were raised. Our goal is to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment across all grade levels while keeping student growth and accountability at the center of our work.

Students will be introduced to the presentations after February break. Once they have had the opportunity to review the information, I will share the materials with all families so you can see the full overview as well.

Lastly, next week we will be having a visit from our Regional Supervisor, Luke Woodruff. You will see him around campus, so please feel free to introduce yourself and welcome him back to our school. We are looking forward to sharing with him the great work happening here.

Sincerely,

Chelsey Zoromski

Dear Parents,

As we move through the season of colds and flu, we kindly ask that if your child is feeling unwell - including symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, or general discomfort - please keep them at home to rest and recover.

This helps protect the health of all students and staff and supports a quicker recovery for your child.

| Goethe External Exams

German External Exams Are Coming Back!

We are happy to share exciting news with our school community - the German Goethe external exams are coming back this May!

This is a great opportunity for students who are learning German at our school, as well as for those who study the language independently, to officially test their German language proficiency and receive an internationally recognized certificate from the Goethe-Institut.

Depending on the number of registered participants, the Goethe-Institut will decide whether the exams will take place at our school premises or at an external examination center. The planned examination period is May.

We are currently collecting preliminary information to better understand the number of interested students and the levels they would like to take.
All interested students are kindly asked to fill out the survey, indicating the level they are considering.

The following levels are planned to be offered:

  • A1
  • A2
  • B1
  • B2

The exams are open to students aged 10 - 18 years.

Taking part in the Goethe exam is an excellent way to:

  • objectively assess your German language skills,
  • gain international certification,
  • and strengthen your academic profile for future studies.

Further organizational details will be shared once the survey results are collected.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the German department.

We look forward to seeing many motivated students take on this challenge!

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
