Director's Message
Dear KIS Community,
What an exciting week this has been! It was a year ago that we closed our doors and shifted to online learning, as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Since that time, we have eagerly waited for the time we could return is some form to KIS. On Wednesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming several of our students, parents, and teachers back on campus. We hope more will be able to join in the coming weeks. If you are planning to return to campus, please just contact the school office – there is no need to complete the form shared earlier.
It was also incredible to see the support from so many Kozaks around the world who sent pictures with Kozaks gear! What an important reminder of the reach and breadth of the KIS community over the years. The campus space has been organized with the intention to support a feeling of home and community. This also means that some of the facilities can be used by parents. We sincerely hope that a community center approach will benefit everyone at KIS.
Thank you so much for all the support these past few weeks as we made preparations!
Once a Kozak, Always a Kozak!
Sincerely,
Luke Woodruff

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL
DI's Message
Dear Elementary and Middle School Families,
We had a very exciting week! We will continue to adjust as we work out the wrinkles with our hybrid system of school now that some of our students and staff are on campus.
Believe it or not, the end of Quintile 3 is fast approaching! That means that our third round of status reports is coming, too. The quintile ends on March 1, so there are 8 school days between now and then. Parents will be reminded when the newest reports are available.
If you are interested in having your child attend school on campus and haven’t already let us know, please email the office to share your plans.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Dzheilin has done a lot of work. Her goal was to make 100 slimes. She also wanted to learn how to make different types of slime. The most challenging was cloud slimes. Dzheilin did a lot of research and experimented with different substances and activators. As a result, she found a formula for a perfect cloud slime. 3-D Art in Elementary
Teacher: Olexandra Myronova
This school year 5–9-year-old students learn 3-D Art online. They have been exploring paper sculptures techniques such as spiral, fringe, curl, loop, zigzag, accordion, and roll, and attachment techniques such as flange and slot.
Every lesson we start with tutorial video or step-by-step instructions. It is a good approach to teach children how to make sculptures. 5- and 6-year-old made a lot of animals of paper.
