Kozak Korner #26. March 20th, 2026

| Interim Director's Message

Dear Families,

Happy Friday! Tonight is our much-anticipated Bingo Night—an exciting event for our school community. We hope to see many of you there for an evening of fun, connection, and friendly competition. There are some exciting prizes to be awarded to the winners of each game.

As we head into the weekend, I also want to draw your attention to the message below. We have now completed all student meetings about our newly organized Student Code of Conduct.  We have also been working diligently to reflect on the thoughtful questions and feedback shared during the parent meetings held before the break. We appreciate your engagement and partnership, and we have compiled responses and updates to address a few of those topics. We are still working to answer other questions, so please continue to watch for updates.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school community. We look forward to seeing many of you this evening!

Sincerely,

Chelsey Zoromski

| Parent Meeting Updates

We have been working hard the past few weeks to work with our students on understanding the newly reorganized levels of the Student Code of Conduct.  At this point, all students have attended the meeting as well as helped give feedback on expectations.

In addition, we have been working hard to answer some questions you have all asked at the meetings.  Please see some of the questions and answers below:

Question: When will parent English classes start again?

Answer: We will have sign-up information in the Kozak Korner next week.  Answer: Our IB students, with help for our CAS Coordinator, have volunteered to run a "Beginner English Class" and an "Intermediate/Advanced English Class" for parents. Classes will run for a few weeks until IB Exams start.

Question: Will the presentation be emailed out?

Answer: The newly organized Student Code of Conduct is much easier to read since all the levels are organized into a table, so I have put it HERE. It contains the exact same information as the presentation.

| Yearbook Individual Portraits

The image appears to be a schedule for individual yearbook portraits, listing the time slots and sections for students to have their photos taken over two days at the Auditorium.

Lights, Camera... KIS!

The camera is coming out for one of our favorite yearbook traditions! Individual portraits for the KIS Yearbook will take place on March 24th–25th for all students and staff.

| French Language and Culture Day

As part of our tradition, on the 20th of March, we celebrate the Francophonie at KIS.

The virtual concert La Francophonie 2026 is ready. This is our program:

  1. La Marseillaise (Zoryana, Katya, Solomia, Zack)

  2. Francophonie (Iryna, Luka)
  3. Mars (Masha)
  4. Alouette (Varya, Ernest, Jakob, Margo, Mattia)
  5. Chanson d’automne (Mrs. Maria)
  6. Je te laisserai (Solomia, Zack)
  7. Prière (Alona)
  8. Pourquoi faut-il apprendre le français (Daria, Gleb, Bogdan)
  9. Les saveurs de France (Mariana, Alisa, Vira)
  10. Le match de football (Vlad)
  11. Dormeur du val (Polina)
  12. On écrit sur les murs (Aryna, Kira, Anna, Sabrina, Kirill, Ringale, Alisa, Danyla).

Please enjoy it!

At the French Café, we could taste delicious traditional dishes: croque-monsieur, French fries, Belgian waffles, croissants and  chocolate bread. We drank diabolo mint and hot chocolate. Everybody could practice ordering in French, even if they’ve never done it before. It was a great immersive experience! There was a photo zone where we took funny pictures. Finally, we helped animals. In total, we raised 22 780 hryvnas (francs)!

THANK YOU to all the participants who cooked, served, made decorations, read poems, sang songs, made sketches and created videos. THANK YOU to all the guests and your contribution! It was a real pleasure for Madame A. and Monsieur B. to organize this event.

Vive la Francophonie et à la prochaine!

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.

Have Questions About "Empower"?

Feel free to reach out to our Empower Program Coordinator, Mrs. Alla Titova at alla-titova@kyiv.qsi.org
