| Director's Message
Dear Families,
I hope this email finds you full of spring-time joy. As the days grow longer, it seems our hearts feel lighter.
Drop off and pick up
This is a busy period, and I would like to ask that our community members are respectful and cooperative with regards to drop off and pick up. To ensure that this happens:
- Drive into the parking lot.
- Park your car in a parking space and then have the children exit the car.
- Do not pull up to the entrance and allow students to disembark.
Thank you for helping our community have a smooth and peaceful transition to and from school!
Reenrollment
Thank you for responding to the Open Apply request. If you haven’t done this, please login and tell us what your plans are. One option is “undecided”.
PSAT
This Saturday at 9 AM we will offer the PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 – SAT Suite | College Board to our Secondary I/II students.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns: rachel-geary@kyiv.qsi.org
Best regards,
Rachel Geary

| Spring MAP Testing
Spring MAP testing is coming! KIS students will be doing MAP testing during the week of April 22. The make-up sessions will be after the break, during the week of May 6.
The NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) Test is an advanced tool designed to evaluate and promote your child’s academic growth and learning achievements. What makes this test special is its adaptive nature, ensuring a personalized testing experience that adjusts to your child’s unique learning level. (“NWEA Map - Overview.” TestingMom, 12 Jan. 2024, www.testingmom.com/tests/nwea-map-test/)
The result? You, along with your child’s teachers, get valuable insights into your child’s learning trajectory. These insights can identify areas of strength and pinpoint where additional support might be beneficial. This can help tailor your child’s learning experience, keeping it challenging enough to foster growth, yet achievable enough to maintain confidence and motivation. | World Book Day Celebration
Dear Parents,
We're reaching out on behalf of the Literacy Committee to share some exciting plans for the last week before Spring break. As we approach World Book Day on April 23rd, we're eager to celebrate with engaging activities.
Here's what we have planned:
April 22nd to 26th:
- Classroom doors will be transformed into vibrant book covers.
- On Friday, April 26th, we invite your children to dress up as their favorite book characters.

Dear KIS Community,
The PTO is considering the possibility of hosting a Garage Sale as part of the upcoming Spring Fling and Art Festival on May 18th, Saturday.
We believe that hosting a Garage Sale alongside our Spring Fling and Art Festival could be a fantastic addition to the day's festivities, offering an opportunity for our community to come together, engage in some spring cleaning, and perhaps find some hidden treasures.
To gauge interest and finalize plans, we would like to ask for your input.
Would you be interested in participating in the Garage Sale on May 18th?
Please take a moment to vote on your interest by choosing the option that is most appealing to you:

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.
Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
