Kozak Korner #29. April 09th, 2026

| Director's Message

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to be back on campus and sincerely thank all my colleagues for their hard-work, professionalism and support during my leave. The beautifully warm welcome back from students and parents was heartwarming!

Lots of activities as always at our busy school. The Book Fair has been well received this week and there was a yummy array of cakes for sale in the PTO bake sale.

PTO Easter Egg hunt and many Easter themed activities on Thursday will be exciting and lots of fun to send us off to a very well-deserved Spring break. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 20th April. Remember that the bell rings at 8:25am and all students are expected to be in their seats ready to learn when period 1 begins at 8:30am.

Quintile 4 ends on 28th April and then we will enter into the final quintile of the school year.

The new Kozak Cash positive behaviour system is up and running well. Each week more and more students are earning these recognitions which is extremely encouraging.

To those who are travelling I send good wishes for a smooth journey, and to those who will be staying in Ukraine a peaceful break.

Whatever your plans, stay safe and enjoy time with family and friends.

Very kindest regards,

Susan Tilney

| IB Visual Arts Exhibition at KIS

Spring marks the season of IB assessments, as our students step forward to demonstrate not only what they have learned, but who they have become.

Among these moments, Mariia’s IB Visual Arts Exhibition stood as a powerful culmination, also the last of its kind within this outgoing curriculum. Set in our park like school ground,  nestled among birch trees, the exhibition created a quiet yet striking dialogue between place and work.

Maria’s pieces were deeply evocative, tracing a journey from nostalgia and blurred understandings of Soviet history toward clear, resonant reflections on contemporary life in Ukraine. The work moved with purpose, layered, questioning, and unafraid.

Technically assured, conceptually sophisticated, and thoughtfully resolved, this exhibition is a testament to the courage, risk-taking, and depth of engagement that define our Kozak students.

Bravo Mariia!

Fresh Drop Alert: Nikibon Bakery Is Coming to KIS

by Nikita R., Sec III IB Student

There is a certain thrill that comes with getting something great in advance. That is exactly the energy behind "Nikibon Bakery", a new venture hitting the school this week as part of my IB Business Management coursework.

Starting on April 8th, the books are officially open for our very first batch! With 3 flavors available: chocolate-poppy seed, caramel-nut, and sugar-free whole-wheat version! Each cost 100 UAH! The first delivery will happen on Monday after the break.

To make sure every single roll sold is fresh and flawless, this drop is operating on a "batch" system.

To order and find out more visit the telegram channel https://t.me/nikibonbakery

Thank you!

| "Empower" Program

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.
