You will see below some very important information concerning staffing, schedule, school fees, etc. for the 2023-24 school year. Please take a moment and read this carefully. MSA Parent Survey
Dear Parents,
For the MSA Communication objective, we need the results from the survey below to report as measurement data. This data is being collected and separated by stakeholder groups: Parents, Staff, and Students.
KIS is kindly asking you to complete this brief survey by Friday, April 7th.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Amy Mims
MSA Coordinator
PRESCHOOL
Coordinator's Message
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the Preschool classes at Kyiv International School. We are delighted to have your child with us. There are a few things that you should know before the school starts.
School starts at 9:00 am. Please create a comfortable routine for your child so that he/she can have 8 to 10 hours sleep and enough time for morning toilet and breakfast before his/her classes. If the child arrives earlier, he/she should be accompanied by an adult who can supervise him/her until 9:00 am.
Dismissal. School day finishes at 3:30. Please wait for your child outside by the preschool door.
Schedule. As I already mentioned our school day will start at 9:00 am. Every day your child will have a number of classes: with one of the following classroom teacher, music and dance teachers and other activities. Every class has duration of 30 minutes with a small break between classes for rest, snack, toilet, etc.
Preschool Supply List. Please send a change of clothes, set of beddings, indoor shoes and all other items from the attached Preschool Supply List.
Labels. Please, label every item you are sending to school with your child (backpack, snack/lunch box, water bottle, bedding, extra clothes, etc.)
Snacks and Lunch. The class has snack time every morning and afternoon and lunch at noon so please send some food and drink with your child. A big backpack is very useful to carry such items to and from school. Please send a water cup or bottle to leave at school.
Toys. Children are allowed to bring a toy, book, etc. to the classroom as long as they are willing to share with their classmates. Also make sure that they do not bring any fragile, breakable or irreplaceable item to school. Toy guns are not allowed in the classroom or at school.
School Folder. We send home a folder with your child’s work every Friday. Please return it the following Monday along with your child’s library book.
Communication. We believe that communication is the key to your child’s success and to a great parent/teacher relationship. For Teacher/Parents communication this year we will use Seesaw app as well as emails. Please download Seesaw app to your computer or phone.
Doctor. We have a full-time doctor at school that is always available to assist in case needed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
We are looking forward to seeing our Preschool students at School on Monday, April 3rd 2023.
Best regards,
Ms. Nataliya Yegorova

LEARNING STORIES & WEEK HIGHLIGHTS
This Is Us: Educator Profile
Olga Shliakhovska
Titles: Fitness & Secondary Technology Teacher
Why am I teaching: I decided to become a teacher so I could share my love to the subject with students and help them to develop a lifelong habit of being fit for life.
Favourite Quote: “If you fail to prepare, you're prepared to fail.”
― Mark SpitzFavourite thing about KIS: Great community, feels like a family.
Rube Goldberg Machines and Bridges
Teacher: Chelsey Zoromski
Science applications students have been working hard on a variety of engineering projects the last few months. Two of our big projects were Rube Goldberg Machines and bridges. Each student completed these project individually and reflected on the process. Below, you can see each of their reflections.
"While constructing my bridge I learned about tension, compression, and shear force. I built a suspension bridge and I added a lot of stability to the sides by adding beams. It turned out to be super successful and helped me understand how real-world bridges hold up so much mass." -Taya
HS Cooking Club
Teachers: LOE Department
We continue working and would like to share our program till the break.
This Friday, March 31st , we cooked Lazy dumplings with cottage cheese, a very popular Ukrainian dish called Linyvi varenyky that is a great choice for the breakfast. Even though this recipe is easier than the traditional varenyky's one, it was a real challenge for us, since we needed to do everything from the beginning to the end. Before the dough was made in advance (a special thank you for Ms. Vita Slobodeniuk!) and the final stage, boiling, was accomplished by LOE teachers, after the Morning Mindset. However, as you can see, this step of proficiency was successfully completed.
Physical Education Makes You Fit and Healthy
Teacher: Anatoly Prima
Physical education never ends. Physical education is always taking place, whether we are online, on-campus, or both. Sport, energizer breaks, and more active lessons are all part of the physical education classes. KIS students had the opportunity to work on object manipulation, basic cross-fit and tabata, dance, yoga, stretching, and, of course, Fun Fridays this year. Many students on campus can now use the fitness room, fitness equipment, and gym. They are participating in volleyball, floor hockey, and badminton. At the same time, we continue to teach online students alongside on-campus classmates.
