Kozak Korner #30. April 11th, 2025

| Director's Message

Dear Families,

It has been an unusual week with the winter returning in full force! Looking forward to the warm and sunny weather returning this weekend.

We are excited about ArtFest which gives us an opportunity to focus on the importance of art. Art isn't just about pretty pictures or fun crafts, though we will certainly see a lot of these on Wednesday! Art is a way for students to express themselves and explore their creativity. When children engage in art, they learn to see the world from different perspectives, solve problems creatively, and communicate their ideas in unique ways.

Art also helps kids manage stress, build confidence, and find joy in the process of creating something new. Whether it's painting, drawing, or sculpting, each artistic endeavor is a chance for them to grow and discover more about themselves.

Please remember that we have an early dismissal on Tuesday, at 2:20, to give us the opportunity to get ready for this fantastic event.

You can always contact us by calling +38 044 452 2792.

Warm regards,
Rachel Geary

| "Empower" Lesson Plans

The Empower curriculum integrates the Success Orientations, Social Emotional Learning concepts, and Child Protection principles into individual lessons throughout the year. These lessons will be delivered during a dedicated weekly EMPOWER class time. This approach aims to equip students with a comprehensive set of skills applicable throughout their lives. Specific lessons tailored to each grade level ensure developmental appropriateness. While some concepts may be revisited annually, the lessons will vary based on the students' age. For more information, please see the QSI Empower statement.

Teachers will keep parents informed about the upcoming lessons for their child, and for certain grades, the lesson plans will be accessible in this newsletter. Click on the post below to view the message from the teacher.

| CAS Initiative: Supporting Pet Shelter

School Food Donations to “Sirius” Pet Shelter

Last week, our CAS project to support the “Sirius” pet shelter officially began! With the help of our school community, we started collecting leftover food from school lunches, and we’re happy to share that two CAS students successfully delivered the first box of donations to the shelter on Friday.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this initiative so far. The shelter was incredibly grateful and shared that they feed approximately 2 tons of food every day to care for the animals—every contribution truly makes a difference. The project is continuing, with food deliveries taking place every Friday. We’re excited to keep helping the shelter weekly.

We also remind everyone that there is a donation box in the school lobby, where the entire community is welcome to bring pet supplies, food, or anything that could help the animals.

We are endlessly thankful for everyone’s effort, interest, and kindness in supporting the animals who need us most.

Book Club For Adults

KIS has started a book club for adults, and you are invited to join!

Here are the plans:

  1. Read one book per month and be ready to discuss it in English.
  2. Each month one person in the club chooses three titles and we will vote for which one we want to read. We will have one month to read the chosen title before our next meeting.
  3. That book host/hostess of the month will also choose the restaurant or cafe where we will meet to discuss the book and enjoy each other’s company.
