Many families are beginning to enroll their children at other QSI and CEESA schools. We are leaving KIS student email accounts open for them to continue to use, if they need and all students are welcome to connect with our online program anytime they want. We hope some of these options are able to provide students with some stability. The fact that these schools have opened their doors for students to enroll without paying tuition is extremely generous and helpful for us. A big part of this arrangement is so parents will continue to finish paying tuition to KIS, PSI, and AAS, allowing us to pay salaries and any other needed payments to sustain the school.

If you are looking to enroll at a different school, just do the following:

• Check with school administration if the school is on our list of CEESA schools
• Email school admissions to find out further steps
• Inform the school if you are making this change
• If you get stuck at any point, the school can also help reach out and try to help with the process.

Any students who are a part of KIS and enroll in a different school are welcome to join KIS online classes at any time to continue with our community and see teachers and friends.

Because we are continuing our financial commitments during this time and we continue to provide online education to all of our students, we ask that you are able to continue with your tuition payments to the school. We recognize that this may be a hardship to some, and if this is the case, we encourage you to reach out to the school administration.

If you are able to, though, we ask that you do make your tuition payments so that we are able to continue paying all of our staff for the remainder of this year. The offer from QSI and CEESA schools to enroll students from KIS without tuition was based on fees continuing to be paid for this purpose.  

With that in mind, we ask if you are able to that you pay your last tuition payments to our US bank. The business office will be reaching out to parents with these instructions soon. We are asking you to do this because there are a number of our staff who are currently outside of Ukraine and who have obligations outside of Ukraine. Currently our staff are unable to make transfers to their overseas bank accounts, and our school bank account is unable to send salary payments outside of Ukraine. We will need to be able to support paying these staff outside of Ukraine.  This is a temporary situation and as soon as we are able to function fully within Ukraine again, we will return to our normal finance policies. 

"Statement of Force Majeure"

Due to the military aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022 and continues to this day, the school was forced to suspend the provision of educational services in the mode of face-to-face attendance of out-of-school or preschool educational institution. However, educational institution is providing educational services online.

Military aggression or war is the subject to Point 8.4 of the contract of providing educational services, namely, the Parties will bear no responsibility under the present Contract resulting from non-performance of this Contract, but with the exception of 8 under the Annex No.1, arising out of the circumstances beyond the control of any Party, including but not limited to environmental disasters, extreme natural conditions, fires, wars, strikes and walkouts, military operations, civil disorders, governmental authorities intrusion, embargo (hereinafter referred to as the “force-majeure”) for the period starting with force-majeure announcement by the non-performing Party and ending with force-majeure coming to its end if the non-performing Party has undertaken all possible measures to end the force-majeure.

In addition, paragraph 8 of Annex № 1 to the contract of providing educational services is defined that in the event of force majeure that causes a student to be withdrawn from the Educational Institution, the fees already paid in full for the academic year will not be refunded, or, if unpaid, will be due in terms under the Contract, Annex No.1 and Invoice. These Parents’ obligations are necessary to protect the Educational Institution’s financial interests with a view to continuing operations after the force majeure event has passed.  Any appeals resulting from the application of the obligation will be resolved by the Participants at the General Participants’ Meeting of the Educational Institution.

We ask you to understand the situation in our country and note that after the victory over the occupying forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our school will resume its work as usual.

You will see more information about this next week, but wanted everyone to know that this organization is volunteering to help support our community.
