| Director's Message

Dear Parents,

This week we celebrated the International flavors of Kyiv International School at the annual International Night which was held on Saturday. Families and visitors from the many countries represented at our school carried national flags and said greetings in their native tongues. A highlight was the delicious array of foods and drinks from so many countries. This was such a truly joyful  experience as we were entertained by dance and music.

On Tuesday we were treated to a concert where Middle School students showcased the culmination of a year-long journey during which they learned how to play and/or enhanced their previous skills with band instruments under the leadership and tutelage of Mr. Jake McGrew. Students demonstrated the kind of results that can be achieved through practice, determination, discipline and team work and experienced the resulting pride and sense of achievement that follows.

Middle School and High School StuCo candidates had opportunities to make presentations and the student body asked questions. Voting for the two Student Councils took place on Thursday and Friday and results will be announced soon.

As we move into June next week students and staff are busy completing studies, final units are being graded, narrative comments are being written and these will be published and sent to you in the last week of the school year.

International Night: A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Community

International Night has long been one of the most cherished traditions at Kyiv International School, bringing together students, families, faculty, and friends in celebration of the rich diversity that defines our community. This year’s event expanded beyond its traditional format, combining the spirit of International Night with an Art Festival and Open House, creating an evening filled with creativity, connection, and discovery.

The celebration began with a lively performance by the KIS school band, whose music warmly welcomed guests and set the tone for an unforgettable evening. One of the highlights of the event was the beloved Flag Parade, during which students proudly carried the flags of their home countries. Representing the many nationalities and cultures within the KIS community, the parade served as a powerful reminder of the unity, respect, and global perspective that are at the heart of the school’s mission.

Guests also enjoyed vibrant performances by the Barvynok ensemble, whose traditional dances brought energy and joy to the celebration while inviting audience members to join in and share the experience together. Throughout the evening, families explored student artwork, participated in engaging workshops, connected with local vendors, and enjoyed a wide variety of activities across campus.

Of course, no International Night would be complete without the opportunity to experience cuisines from around the world. Tables filled with delicious international dishes reflected the generosity and cultural pride of the KIS community, turning the evening into a true celebration of global traditions and hospitality.

The success of International Night was made possible through the dedication and enthusiasm of students, parents, faculty, staff, performers, volunteers, and community partners. Their collective efforts transformed the event into a memorable celebration of culture, creativity, and togetherness.

As the evening came to a close, it left behind a strong sense of connection and appreciation for the vibrant international community that makes KIS such a special place. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this remarkable event and look forward to celebrating together again next year.
